Tathaastu Foundation Guides First-Year Students Toward Emotional Balance and Resilience
Tathaastu Times Desk, 4 October 2025
In a heartwarming initiative to strengthen the emotional foundations of future healthcare professionals, Tathaastu Foundation conducted a Mental Wellness Workshop at ITS Dental College, Greater Noida for first-year BDS students. The session, led by Dr. Satinder Maken, a renowned Expert Speaker and founder of Tathaastu Foundation, focused on understanding and nurturing mental health as a crucial pillar of academic and personal success.
The workshop commenced with a gracious welcome extended to Dr. Satinder Maken by the esteemed faculty members Dr. Hina (HOD, Dental Anatomy), Dr. Madhavi (HOD, Biochemistry), Dr. Anshil (HOD, Orthodontics), and Dr. Swati Choudhary (HOD, Oral Pathology) , who presented her with a green plant, symbolizing growth, positivity, and well-being. The gesture set the tone for the day, aligning perfectly with the essence of the session which is nurturing minds as carefully as one nurtures life itself.
The Essence of the Workshop
Dr. Maken began the session by inviting students to reflect on a simple yet powerful question – “When was the last time you truly felt at peace?” The hall turned silent, not out of confusion, but realization. Through relatable stories and gentle humor, she helped the young students understand that mental health is not merely the absence of problems but the presence of balance, awareness, and emotional strength.
She discussed the pressures that accompany academic excellence, the anxiety of transitions, and the unspoken burden of expectations many students silently carry. Drawing from real-life examples and psychological frameworks, Dr. Maken explained that emotional well-being is the foundation on which learning, focus, and creativity thrive. She encouraged students to express rather than suppress — to share, seek help, and support one another through empathy and understanding.

Interactive Insights & Reflections
One of the highlights of the workshop was the interactive exercise, where students were asked to write down one worry that constantly occupies their mind and one small thing that brings them peace. The activity created a safe, introspective space where participants realized how small acts — a walk, a smile, a few minutes of silence — could make a profound difference.
The discussion touched upon emotional awareness, digital distraction, peer comparison, and fear of failure, helping students recognize that seeking balance is a strength, not a weakness. Dr. Maken reminded the young attendees, “Your mental health is your inner oxygen — without it, even the brightest ambition will fade.”

Outputs and Impact
By the end of the session, the once-restless room had transformed into a calm, reflective space. Students shared that they felt lighter, understood, and more connected to themselves. Many remarked that it was the first time they were invited to think about their own emotional needs, rather than just academic goals.
The workshop not only introduced the concept of mental hygiene daily emotional care but also left participants with practical tools: journaling thoughts, mindful breathing, digital detox, and gratitude reflection. Faculty members too appreciated the initiative, noting how essential it is to address mental wellness early in a student’s professional journey.
Faculty Reflections
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Hina appreciated Tathaastu Foundation’s commitment to youth well-being, adding, “Dental education is demanding. Today’s session reminded us that before we care for others, we must learn to care for ourselves.”
Dr. Madhavi highlighted that such initiatives bridge the emotional gap between students and educators, helping institutions evolve as supportive ecosystems.
A Step Toward Healing Futures
The workshop concluded with heartfelt applause and smiles that reflected both gratitude and hope. The interaction left an imprint not only on the young students but also on the faculty who witnessed how open conversations about mental health can transform perspectives.
As one participant beautifully said while leaving the hall, “Today, I understood that success is not just about becoming a good doctor — it’s about staying a healthy, happy human being.”
The dignitaries also presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Dr. Maken, acknowledging her meaningful contribution to student mental health and holistic education.

Through this session, Tathaastu Foundation once again reaffirmed its mission — to empower minds, heal hearts, and build emotionally resilient generations ready to flourish in both life and profession.
